Ravenhurst, Cotswold – England

 A spot of luxury

The drive to Cotswold is nothing short of amazing. The scenery is indisputably picturesque and you cannot help but immerse yourself into the surroundings for most of the journey. Well, in my case exercising vocal chords in singing nursery rhymes to our one year old toddler, I was just glad to discover that Cotswold remained a family favourite, as it caters well to every age group.

It is Alex and Andy Young who are the proud owners of Ravenhurst.  The couple’s dream to own a bed and breakfast business and to escape from hustle and bustle of city life has been achieved. They live in the property separate from the business at basement level, whilst the remaining pockets of the house is completely open to guests. The charming Georgian building is breathtaking and our weekend getaway was off to a stunning start!

Our Highlights

  • As parents we never fail to note the little child friendly provisions; a travel cot, bath toys, bath towel, highchair, microwave facilty and childen’s utensils.
  • Boutique accommodation with just a handful of guest rooms. It never felt overcrowded.
  • The homemade cookies and hot beverages facility in-room. A warm welcome after a long journey.
  • Hot, delicious breakfast served every morning with fresh local ingredients. Every breakfast was sumptuous.
  • A drawing room with a table tennis and TV for a potential rainy day. A well-stocked library is available too.
  • I love the concept of a honesty bar. This is tucked in the parlour next to a beautiful piano.
  • A newly refurbished children’s playground on Pitville Lawn, opposite the property. Our toddler had several fun trips.
  • Orla Keily complimentary toiletries. A lovely bergamot scent with every shower.

Verdict – Outstanding

Much to our pleasure, an immaculate stay at the delightful Ravenhurst, lived up to our expectations and beyond. The service is uber friendly yet unobtrusive with the willingness to go an extra mile. (The owners kindly provided Assam tea as a welcome gesture. We are tea fanatics!)
This place is luxury meets child-friendly. You will adore the property from its grandeur of a sweeping staircase to a plush drawing room. This is an effortless weekend to plan with mini people. Child friendly facilities parked on your doorstep and luxurious place to pamper your stay. It is fair to say, we will definitely return soon.
