Opulent vacation, even with children
Highlights
As you enter the lobby of this striking hotel, beauty spills with splendour. Jasmine scented towels and refreshing mango fruit drinks swiftly appear to soothe your travel fatigue. The hotel greets its young guests with a welcome gift and that is just the beginning.
Cyprus weather starts its warm-up from around April, with a balmy sea that is open for swimming right through to October. The spread of consistent sunshine explains its popularity with families.
The consistency continues, the guestrooms (newly renovated in 2016) are visually appealing. The large restful high beds, creamy marble bathrooms with a rainfall shower and glittering sea views further elate the holiday fever. A tablet is perched on the dressing table to control the curtains, climate, room service order and housekeeping requests. A savvy generation of self-service is born.
The Kids Club (older children) and Kindergarten (babies and toddlers) are idyllic shade spots, when the sun is scorching at midday. It has an unflagging kindness despite the pandemonium of little people. They are fully entertained with daily arts and crafts, movies, baking biscuits and cute little playhouses.
Pool choice is very good. Adult pool is situated in a secluded spot away from the crowds. Indoor pool with ice room, sauna and steam is brilliant. Best of all, the main poolside was the most exciting segment for our one year old. It was nice to learn parents and children were openly bonding and foraging new friendships. With service attentive and swift, it is no wonder; the outdoor children’s pool was a big hit with younger ones yet never felt overcrowded.

From a collection of five, the most toddler friendly of restaurants was the brand new Colours Cafe. A relaxed style, beautiful surroundings, high quality ingredients and a most delectable dessert parlour.
It is not just the stylish decor that is the hub of the cafe. The menu is diligently selective. Each of the flavours are sumptuous as ingredients are delicately sourced. Even, freshly baked croissants adopt the award-winning recipe from Portuguese chef, Oriol Balaguer.
The café counter brims with a sleek pastry counter, full array gelato station and attracts a strong made-to-order celebration cake crowd.
For a hit of glamour to your evening, Vivaldi by Mavrommatis, an Italian restaurant gladly admits children. The four-course menu is dependably delightful, caters for vegetarians and a terrace seating promises panoramic sea views with amber hues.
Service is seamless. The heavenly creamy burrata salad, mushroom risotto and artichoke tart are exquisite. My mind did wander to Italy for a moment. Known for its seasonal ingredients and elegant pairings, the place proudly seats a generous number of walk-in diners, in addition to hotel guests.

Holidays welcome some downtime at the hotel Spa. The Four Seasons proudly home the exclusive Japanese Shisedu Spa. It is the only one on the island and in the entire Eastern Mediterranean since 2007.
A Journey of Senses from the signature range, works a delightful Eastern experience for 2 hours and 45 minutes with utmost respect and grace. The treatment works to balance the Qi (mind, body and skin) energy and stimulating Tsubo pressure points. The structured treatment employs ‘Oshibori’ (Japanese hot towels) to release tension and aid muscle relaxation, it is simply marvellous.
However, the beach quality is not the best in this region. It consists of dark sand and pebbles, rather compact with a limited stretch.
