Rejuvenate your mind, body and soul
The drive into Champneys grounds fills the mind with pure tranquillity. It is located in Liphook, on the Hampshire and Sussex border, set amongst a fabulous backdrop of woodland and a serene lake. It is the picture-perfect place to unwind for a state of total relaxation.
The place is pampering heaven with a well-equipped Gym, fitness classes, pool, sauna, steam room, Thalassotherapy pool, outdoor Jacuzzi, quiet areas for reading and relaxation, and outdoor activities.
The experience
Forest Mere is pleasantly systematic. Your appointments are organised for you and the team in the spa will happily add treatments on the day. Lunches are arranged around treatments, which is a buffet style. An array of salads, delicious hot food station, healthy desserts, warm homemade breads and mindful eating plates are at hand to help eat a balanced meal.
My itinerary included;
- Fitness Class: A Hula Hoop class. It was such an enjoyable workout. I have never used a hula hoop in my life. By the end of the session, I could actually hula hoop and completed a mini workout.
- Relaxation: Sauna, steam and swim rotation encourages a mid afternoon nap on the waterbeds.
- Lunch: The healthy lifestyle ethos flows into the dining. Calorie-controlled meals and a lack of alcohol options.
- An Elemis treatment (see below for more details)
The Treatment
The Elemis Touch Couture was a hot stone massage, combined with a custom anti-ageing facial. It was a 50 minutes treatment and it was sensational. The therapist Fiona was precisely tuned with my requirements and clearly demonstrated her technique flawlessly.

- Try something new. For a jam-packed fun class, I can highly recommend the hula hoop class run by Andy.
- An active walk around the National trust-managed forest that surrounds the resort.
- A moment of quietude/meditation on the grounds facing the lake.
