The Christmas magic returns
The Snowman returns to our theatres for the 22nd year, almost as a cue to announce Christmas. Based upon the book by Raymond Briggs and produces by John Coates. The Peacock Theatre, Aldwych is much loved amongst our readership as it endeavours to transport the enchanting narrative in the run-up to seasonal festivities.

With music and lyrics by Howard Blake, including Walking in the Air, choreography by Robert North, directed by Bill Alexander, alongside Ruari Murchison’s enchanting design combined with Tim Mitchell’s spectacular lighting, The Snowman continues to seize audiences with a captivating mix of dance, live music, storytelling, spectacle and magic.
Highlights
- The snowfall in the audience – a light flurry was most welcomed by the younger crowd and adults alike.
- Charming performance by the ballerina, a year on year classic.
- Snowman and Cat chase adds fun and frolic to the blend.
- Snowman party dance is stunning and a centrepiece of the performance.
- Snowman and boy flying through the air is my favourite segment and the most magical.

Verdict – Excellent 9/10
An absolute winner for the whole family, it never fails to deliver. We were elated with the cast and performance. If you only watch one show this Christmas, make it this snowy number!
